Why Security
Security in general has become a hot topic of late and information security in particular has been central to a lot of recent news stories, from memory sticks and CDs being lost to major websites being compromised. At Electric Cat we do not sell our services by scaring our customers with average company vulnerability statistics because we don't think any of our customers are 'average'.
We believe there are two main approaches to information security. The first is to follow a process of threat assessment, risk assessment, countermeasure selection, implementation, documentation, training and test. We can provide all of these services, tailored to the client's business, and are content to provide only part of this process, such as the risk assessment or penetration testing phases. Customers following this process are usually within an industry with information security governance or are particularly security aware and methodological in their responsibilities to protect the information they hold.
The other main approach to security is one balanced against commercial risk rather than information security risk. Within this approach, our customers seek to strengthen their market position through information security assurances, while balancing their security spend against their other fiscal requirements. This approach may apply to a company that believes their IT systems are suitably secure, but seeks outside confirmation in order to demonstrate their commitment to security to their customer base.
